Announcing a Free, Self-Paced Tutorial Series: "Foundations of MBSE: From Concept to Reality"

|
Model-based systems engineering remains the hot topic in virtually every systems engineering forum. Much of the conversation is tuned to the experienced practitioner, often at the detail level. As business leaders look to understand MBSE and new practitioners look to adopt MBSE, they can easily find themselves lost.
To establish a solid foundation for experienced, new, and non-systems engineers alike, Vitech has developed an online tutorial series: 12 segments, each approximately 15 minutes long, all freely available from our website. A new episode will be posted each Tuesday and Thursday. The series does not replace training and mentoring. It simply ensures we are all pointed in the right direction. Watch the first episode today.

Don't Miss the Systems Engineering Event of the Year
The systems community gathers in Edinburgh July 18-21 to share the latest research, leading-edge practices, new developments, and future directions in systems engineering. This year Larry Leifer of Stanford kicks off the week with a keynote on design thinking. From there expect four days packed with keynote presentations, insightful papers, thought-provoking panels, and informative tutorials. Enjoy a host of social activities and surprises sprinkled about to ensure a high-value, first class experience. Registration is open, so reserve your spot at the premier event for sharing and advancing the best of systems engineering.

Vitech has had the pleasure of attending every INCOSE symposium since 1993. We always walk away from the technical sessions with new ideas. The informal hallway conversations, experiences shared, and connections made are even better.
Join us as we share our latest insights in panels and presentations. Catch our president David Long in the fringe session loosely based on "Mock the Week." Then stop by the booth to learn the latest on our software and services to help organizations raise their systems engineering proficiency.

Upcoming Webinar
Join us June 22 from 11-12 EDT as Zane Scott discusses "The Key to Systems Engineering Success." The sine qua non of systems engineering is the systems view. Too often, projects are undertaken with fragmented or missing views of the overall system. This webinar explores the nature and value of a true systems view, how we get it and how we can go astray.

Reference Architectures: A Success Story Snippet
A long-time customer recently shared the following. We can't divulge details but felt the concepts regarding reuse of a reference architecture in MBSE would be appreciated.
"The model that is now our standard architecture model first began by my modeling of just the control aspects of the vehicle. Years later it expanded to include propulsion and aero when we used that model as the starting point for a different project. At the end of that project, we removed the specialized information, and the new model became a rapid stand-up model for a third, unrelated project. That program yielded a LOT of good model aspects for the various vehicle subsystems. This then became the basis for our base model which is now the official starting point for each new program. Each program takes our base model with standard components, functions, items, etc. and then tailors it to their program."

By Systems Engineers for Systems Engineers
The team at Vitech is often asked why we invest so much in the systems engineering community - David Long serving as INCOSE's president in 2014 & 2015, Zane Scott serving as co-chair of the INCOSE Corporate Advisory Board, the freely available MBSE Primer, the blogs and webinars focused on systems issues rather than Vitech, and on and on. The answer is simple. Our sole purpose at Vitech is restoring and increasing the effectiveness of systems engineering.
As David shared in his 21st Century Systems Engineering keynote at INCOSE IS 2015, we believe we live in the age of systems. If we can help advance the state of the art and practice in systems engineering, we can improve the world. Vitech and our solutions are built by systems engineers for systems engineers, easing the burden of systems engineering while enriching the value. Our mission is to build and enhance the systems engineering capabilities of organizations through a tailored combination of training, services, and software, positioning our clients to better deliver project and corporate success. For that reason, we invest greatly in helping organizations and the greater community raise systems awareness, make the case for systems engineering, advance the state of the art, and increase their systems engineering proficiency.
